Perhaps I didn't search far enough into the threads, but I'm pretty sure there isn't mention of this...
I am looking to buy my second e30 and I'd like for it be a vert. I think these machines are dead sexy in vert form, however I find the looks fall off sharply as soon as that cloth monstrosity is pulled over for cover.
I'd love to go the hardtop route, but simply don't have the money to buy the car and spend nearly an equal amount for a hardtop... hence the following;
I'm interested in fabricating a hardtop from a donor car, specifically involving a chop of the cab from a donor i/is/e/es and fabing it to fit an ic. I'm not sure the dimensions (specifically length) would work.
Does anyone in these forums know dimensions of the front top window frame cut off point to the rear c pillar connecting point? Or if this has been attempted before?
I am mechanically inclined and can do a good deal of fab work myself, so if it is within sight of possible I'm more than willing to give it a shot, I just don't want to jump into a project that is undo-able.
Any and all input is appreciated. I just want to hear from you, so please, don't hesitate to speak, whether or not you have expertise on this specific project, ANY level of input is appreciated.
