Need Mtech II Steering Wheel Install Help!!!!!!!!

Does your MTII wheel fit like this? Also does it connect to your horn? I bought an MTII wheel from here (shouts to Sskoda, fast shipping and as described). I did some reading be installing. Every thing I found claimed that I would need a spacer or else it will rub against my stalks. Multiple treads all listed the same part number for the spacer. I order it and its completely unnecessary. The steering wheel won't go all the way down and leaves that gap you see. It isn't close to touching the stalks.

Am I doing something wrong? How can I make it fit flush if possible?

Is there a way to make the horn work? There are no wires hanging out of the back of the steering wheel to connect.

I think your steering wheel is in the locking position, insert key in the ignition position #2 and you should be able to get it all the way in. Place the washer and nut and you are good to go.

I'll be giving this a shot first thing in the morning, however, I don't think this will work. Isn't position 2 like have the car started? If so I've be driving like this for like 2 days and haven't noticed any extra play when the car is started. Will be trying tomorrow none the less.

There was one unless someone took it at some point. , virtually all bmw's have one.

It really does look like its becuase of the steering wheel lock. As was mentioned, with the key turned(even to position 1) the metal pawl at the 12 o'clock position of the internal mechanism should retract and let the wheel go on the rest of the way.

you don't have key in so the wheel is in lock position that's why it isn't going down.you need the horn spacer behind it that is what makes horn work.you will need the large washer on front off the wheel to help push it down far enough to grab the shaft.nice interior you have!

There was a second spacer and I took it off, still didn't fit. Do I need to remove/cut the black thing protruding on the back of the steering wheel?

Also I don't see how the horn could possible work because there's noting to connect.

do not cut he turn signal switch stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
see the brass ring on back off wheel it contacts the little pole piece to get power.under the wheel on the steering column should be one thick spacer looks like a tugnsten steel weeding ring.slide the wheel on put the washer on out side tighten nut down.the steering shaft has a spring on the washer under the spacer it squeezes down when you tighten it do about 50 ps1 torque.

I got it! It was a that second washer that was causing it to not go down. Now the steering lock works, the horn works and the signals cancel.

Hi. Just wanted to revive this thread bec I'm encountering an issue with the locking pin. I have managed to take out the steering wheel, but I must have moved it to lock when I pulled it out, so now I can't get the wheel in.

Any tips on how to go about this w/o having to drill / destroy anything? Can't put the keys on position 2 anymore even when i tried put the wheel in and steer it to unlock.

                        Would appreciate some help. Thanks.

Found out that locking pin was leaning towards the back and just had to flick it back to center so key could turn to position 2. Good thing I didn't use too much force to break it.
