Help with 5 lug swap ! Someone save the day

So I followed the great write up on extra drei and bought all the necessary components for a complete 5 lug swap, BUT !

First, what do you guys do about this socket ?

Second, for the rear I bought Z3 2.8 hubs from the dealer

And then after a very very long day I managed to get the awful awful e30 hubs and bearings which btw i'd never ever do again after this experience !

Now the problem is that I also bought a set of E39 17" style 5 BBS 090 and I changed my mind last second about rolling or pulling the rear fenders, I just can't do this on my M-tech !

And my question is, can I get away with a style 5 rims on the rear If I return the Z3 hubs and buy E30 M3 hubs ? Will they fit nicely without rolling or pulling the rear fenders ?

Also since getting rear E30 M3 rear brakes at a reasonable price is almost impossible, I heard people are using E32 rear brakes since they're identical but you must shave some of the E36 318ti brake carries, and a lot of people don't like the idea but the E30 rear brakes carries are shaved in the same manner and it always has worked just fine

    any thoughts ?

Iam in the process of the doing the same thing with the rc using e30 m3 parts and e30m3 carrier I have seen the rc with e36 parts on the e30 they dont look good to me by how it comes out. The higher the ET number the more the wheel will sit inside the wheel arch the e30 m3 parts should make the wheel sit futher in better I would imagine havent tryed them yet been too buizzy

Yeah I think they're ET25, and I really don't wanna stretch tires or any aggressive camber, I've always made fun of golf's and jetta's and thought they're extremely ugly

Thanks for the reply but I really need an answer soon as I'm doing the swap right now and the car is on jack stands

Yes believe me I've been searching for months, and I've seen tons of them and they looked perfect, but I've been really insecure once I've read so many misleading info and realized they're wrong last week when I swapped engine and tranny, I really don't wanna screw this one up

Yeah I've seen that thread, they'll had to roll the rear fenders, I'm trying to see if I can avoid rolling, I'm just gonna go ahead and buy them and see what happens.

Now I need some help with the front e36 m3 strut nut, and the rear 318ti caliper carriers

I ground down a socket thinner to get the strut nut.

You might find one off the shelf but i didn't have the time to go shopping.

17x8 et20 will rub... They look so amazing and I hate myself for having to be the bearer of bad news.

I have a thin walled 22mm socket and I've also previously bought slimmer nuts from Automotive Fasteners to use a 19mm socket.

Another option is to buy new Sachs/Boge front strut mounts. They have a larger opening and a socket will fit them without issue. They will accept the E36 dust caps in the top.

ugghhh are you saying they're gonna rub with the z3 2.8 hubs or the e30 m3 hubs ?

if i did my research right, the e30 m3 hub is 5mm longer than the non m e30.

i wish i can, i spent so much money on this car, at this point i don't mind shaving a socket if it works.

if you use e30 m3 hubs, wheels won't rub. But with z3, you'll definitely be touching.

Aptyp thanks for your help, but can you please clarify "touching" ? Im gonna have to pay another $200 on top of what i paid for the Z3 hubs between the restocking fee's for returning the Z3 hubs and buying the pricer E30 M3 ones, do you think it's worth it ?

By touching, I mean it will RUB like crazy to the point it will shred walls of your tires.

M3 hubs are THE BEST option if you want to run those wheels.
