    Problem

So my car is parked at the class 6 on Ramstein.

    Car is a 89 318...Touring, manual.

Went in for Subway on Wed came out and my key would not get the ignition to click over to start it. Tried it with the spare key still no luck.

It will click to the AC position where you can unlock the steering wheel and turn on the radio but will not click into the next position to crank the car or have the lights on bright...make sense?

Very frustrated and wondering how much something like this might be to fix.

This might end up being when I just swap the car out for something else.

I also dont know how long I can leave it parked there without getting a ticket.

There is a BMW guy named Sasha in Ramstein Im going to try to get on base to take a look at it... If its too much -like 300 euro - Anyone know how I can junk it for some cash?

Or anyone know any good E30s for sale?

it is the electrical connection (ignition switch) behind the key cylinder.

Nope... Found that out today - went and pulled the steering column apart and took off the wheel... double checked those.

Got frustrated and figured wtf... why not just beat it with a hammer for abit.

Did that and put the wheel back on and was able to get it to click over.

Now the key wont click all the way back but at least it starts and stops

He is right, on the side where the turn signal is. You have to take the plastic off. There is a orange piece on the back of the ignition switch. You can pop it off. Stick a screw driver in it and start the car. That does not unlock the steering wheel. It will narrow the problem.
