    Questions about m10 s14 stroker

So I have heard a little bit about people using s14 internals in an m10 and it improving performance quite a bit. I looked all over and can't really find any solid info on this but I'm very interested in this and seeing if it would be ideal for my turbo build. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I have also heard of people using the S14 head on a M10 bottom end and using the 84mm S14 crank in the M10, then boosting these frankenmotors and making good power. Problem is these characters aren't on e30 boards. You're more likely to find them in the 2002 or E21 circles.
"I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

here's a thread from 2002faq that should be just what you're looking for:

I've posted recently regarding this subject and as I start to look at a few things like Rod Ratios, Intake and Exhaust Porting, and Piston Bore I'm starting to wonder if going that big is a smart idea? There are several 02'ers out there that are running M10 2.2L S14 stroker motors right now with ...

Be prepared to drop a good chunk of change to obtain the bottom end from an s14. What you're looking at is essentially a whole engine rebuild as you can't use the 16 valve pistons, so you're gonna need customs pistons, then need the block bored/honed for them, then replace all the bearings, etc, etc.

Yes I'm prepared for this! Haha it'll be my first "complete build and I'll just attain the parts as I can get the money. I'm not in a big hurry

I don't mean to crap on your plans, but you can build a 2.0 to 2.1L m10 a lot easier and cheaper and still make gobs of power. You can easily find a 2002 crank, and use the 92mm pistons you would have to order for the s14 block anyways, and reuse your 318 block, or one from a 2002 with a custom engine mount. You'll save a lot of time and money from tracking down the hard to get s14 parts, and still make enough power to set your hair on fire. Check out some of the m10 turbo builds around the forums.

I don't know if you've read the hsvturbo thread, but the guy is putting down something like 340 whp on a stock engine with a mls head gasket.

Better off with a s14 swap?

I'll have to check that out! An I don't have any set plans yet. Still sorting thru different options.

hmm, the M10 stroker would be at least that much as well.

thebutterson - You CANNOT run 92mm pistons in an M10 block.

Tbruz, if you'd like to talk with someone local who has done this before, talk with JP at A1 Autowerks, he's pretty well-known in the 2002/m10 community. I'd recommend talking with him to get an accurate estimate of what to expect.

                    Here's a M10/S14 blocked engine that is some of JP's handy-work.

Alrite, I mite see if I could contact him somehow. I'm doing the work myself. I just want solid parts and a proven build. I don't wanna put it together being a mystery what it's going to do the whole time.

I agree on the 2.0L build. It's much cheaper than finding an s14 crank/parts, and has been proven to make some good power.
