    Aftermarket Intake setup

I know OEM is always the better way to go.
But the sound of an aftermarket cone intake is noice.
    How your guys' setups look?

I ran my cone a few years ago, but it wasn't mounted right, and tore my MAF boot and I had to revert back to the stock setup.

    Hit me!

My AFM is supported by the cold air shield and a metal strip from the AFM flange to the OEM airbox support (it's hard to see but the silver edge is just visable in this photo).

Wow! I didn't even think about dismembering the original box, scared that it'd be too hard to put it back together again for smog, or that it'd be too much of a P.I.T.A.

      Any upclose photos?

Mine's not a dismembered OEM airbox. Its an aftermarket heatsheild that someone used to make and sell here on R3V.

Are there any intakes that you can noticeably hear that also help performance?

No but I have a loud exhaust it made the exhaust note slightly deeper.

This for the FUH RETARD. BMW OEM Intake is the best choice, for the engine's sake.
A fresh oem filter in the oem box will always be the best, however this is R3v.

get an aem dryflow and then make it fit good and call it a day

OR drill the airbox. Drilling airbox sounds the same.. did it to my car. Way noticeable sound difference at WOT
