HELP! Cylinders 1 and 3 spark at coil pack but don't fire

I hope someone can help! As listed above, both cylinder 1 and 3 spark, but don't fire.
My sons took off the intake to replace the temp sensor, and now this is happening.
Is there something that is simple to check? I was trying to avoid pulling the intake off. Thanks...

As in the plugs themselves are producing spark, but not igniting the mixture in 1 & 3?

If this is the case I would look to injector connectors being partially unplugged, either at the injectors themselves or at the back (towards firewall) end of the electrical box under the intake.

If what I said above is not correct are the plugs getting wet from fuel?

      roguetoaster,

I pulled the TB and intake. The power wire from to the fuel rail was slightly pinched into the corner of the intake. I spliced in new wiring, and it runs perfectly.

My sons surprised me while I was gone and replaced the temp sensor o address a warm start issue. The computer thinks the car is cold, and floods it with too much fuel. I can drive through it (it spits and jerks) and then it will lean out and run correctly, or re-start the engine, and then it works perfectly. Changing the temp sensor did NOT help. Any ideas? Thanks...

I was going to say things about the AFM and O2 sensor, but those should be persistent issues and do not match up well with the shut it down and then it's fine for a short time. The only thing I can come up with is the connectors for the oil temp and coolant temp were switched.

How is its idle cold? How long do the symptoms take to come in? Where in the RPM range is the sputtering occurring?

Need to CK if the Intake air sensor is working correctly. It is not a part that can be replaced as it is part of the AFM.

May be dirty and reading slowly, or pins in the screw on plug for AFM corroded.
