    guibo & csb question

So, I have an early model (1987) E30 325is. It has the m52 motor and trans from a 1997 328 in it.

My question is would it be the original E30 driveshaft and rear end in the car? Or will the E30 driveshaft not work with the E36 tranny?

Which guibo and center support bearing do I need to buy?

    Thanks!

CSB is dependent on the body, there is an early and late style. For '87 I'm not sure which one you need. Check realOEM or pelican parts. Can't say on the guibo for certain but you would probably need one for the year of e36 the engine/trans came out of. However if these are going bad in your car you should inspect your driveshaft.

Well I'm not sure they are actually bad. I will have the rear subframe, exhaust, and drive shaft out of the car to do subframe bushings, rtabs, wheel bearings, etc... and figured I would replace them at the same time.

The rubber is cracking a bit, but probably just from age.

How would one check the driveshaft? Just look for play in the u joints or is there something else?

Yep. If you aren't getting any speed related vibration you're probably fine.

          Thanks.

I am getting the low pitched rumbling during acceleration in 1st and 2nd indicative of a bad CSB (from what I read) but I will check the driveshaft when I have it out.

Bad CSB points to bad driveshaft. I had the same problem with my car, replacing the CSB fixed the rumble and exposed a new rumble at 40-50mph.
