E30 Shock Front Tower Help !!!

My front driver 89 e30 side shock tower has ripped from a couple of its spot
    welds.
Is there a write up on how to correct something like this before i tear it down and start sheet metal work.

    looking for guidelines or references

    any help would be wonderful

As always, seach first. even non BMW forums can help you with something like this. But I'd say you need to support the car, remove the paint/ undercoating and weld it back maybe with an additional strut mount plate. That's just my theory though. That sounds really really bad. The tower just popped out of it's welds? does the car sag a lot there?

Did you just buy this car? PO probably had it in an accident or something... that's a real weird thing to happen just out of nowhere.

ik its really weird … i bought the car about year ago. really clean car no rust or exterior body damage. straight panels all around. it was driven for about a month until i blew a tire but replaced with brand new tires. then was parked in garage ever since. car rides fine but when i started to tear down the body and engine bay for engine swap i noticed a gap in the sheet metal where spot welds should be attached. only about three spot welds destroyed but looks to be simple repair.

Get the alignment checked to see if it’s in spec. this could help you determine if you have a bigger problem. If nothing is discovered take it to a body shop and get it welded up!
