e30 running weird.

So I was driving to my family reunion about 20 miles away. When I missed a turn and turned around and the car shut off. Tried turn in over no luck. About 10 minutes looking around tried again started right up. Went down the road and couldn't go above 30. It started to buck like a car would if it was out of gas. Then the check engine light came on and went off. After it going off the car shut off. Now things I've done recently, fuel filter, spark plugs, Timing belt, air filter. The only things I came up with is fuel pump, sensor, or needs a spark tuneup. (Had a another set of spark wires but that's it tried them but no luck) or maybe a bad o2 sensor. But that doesnt make sense since its fine at idle and can rev up the whole way in first with no issue
any suggestions?

My first suspicion would be the fuel system.

cPs check for resistance and replace if not up to par.

Fuel return line might be clogged.

when you say "Tried turn in over no luck" do you mean it would not even crank the engine over or it would crank over but not run? if its not cranking ,do lights come on dash with key on ? possibly check battery connections for being loose if your having cranking no dash light issue. check that battery isnt loose tipping over and shorting out too ....
