Oil Temp Sensor

do you think there's any way you could hook up a OBC outside air temp sensor or modify it to read oil temp and show up on the obc? could it withstand the heat? i know they sell drain plug, oil temp, sending units so it may be possible to swap sensors from a new/custom plug. does this sound possible?

It might be possible, but heat is the issue here. I don't know if it could take the heat or not. Would be pretty cool though.
