    M20B27 bad idle issue.

Yo, so what's up. I bought an 87 325e back in late 2016 and it wasn't running. A new battery and distributor rotor got her started right up, but that thing idled at 7k. I'm like the 10th owner, so it already had 325i guages and what trips me out is that the DME wasn't chipped and it revved past the factory 325e redline and it aint no super eta neither. But whatever. I decided to rebuild it and do the 885 head swap. I'm almost done with the rebuild, all new gaskets, all swap parts, main and rod bearings, new vaccum lines, new intake manifold and throttle body w/TPS.

But before I go to fire it for the first time and have the first start shoot back up to 7k for an awesome break in, I was wondering if any other issues could have caused this, because as the new parts that may have affected that idle that I have are a 1.3 wiring harness, a 525 DME, ALL new vaccum lines, new TPS, new throttle body, new gaskets ALL around, new ICV (actually have 2)

But is there anything ELSE that may have caused that? I've heard something about an idle control module of some type but have no idea.

    Thanks in advance yall.

I just bought a 87 325e couple days ago and had similar problem. The car was having a hard time starting. Checked and the dme wasn't plug in. Got the dme plugged and still having problem starting. Finally got it started, but was idling like at 4k. After so research, I then I found the idle control module wasn't plug in as well. Plugged the icm in and now idling at 800rpm.

I would check and see if the icm is plug in first. If it is, it might be bad. Icv can also be a problem at well.
