Help ! Need advice for my project/restoration.

    The project: I have a rust free '86 325es 5spd.
    Recently I bought a freshly rebuilt '89 2.5 m20b5 engine.

Here's where it gets a little dicey.
    I have 2 motronic boxes - one is from a '87 325is auto trans (0 261 200 380), the other is a misfit that came from the Gent who I bought the new engine from. (0 261 200 173).

I have the airbox, throttle body, MAF etc from the '87 325is. (junkyard car)
I have all the parts from my ' 86 325es.

    Here's a couple of questions.
    a) Which motronic box should I go with?

    b) What wire harness should I use?
Go back to the junkyard & retrieve the '87 harness?
    Will my 325e harness work?
Buy one off of Ebay or is there a better option?

Your advice and comments will be helpful.

    1 173.

2 87 harness- and sensors. Months can matter, here- get the date off the car that's
donating the harness. You may need to get sensors, too, as a few connectors changed,
and your engine may have late ones. realoem.com will know.

3 will you use early or late cooling parts? The late pump is different than your early chassis.

      Toby, thanks for your reply.

1.The 173 box is not from the junkyard '87 model. (You think that's the best choice, if so..I'll roll with it.)

2.I think the best option is the '87 harness too. (Wish there was a business that made aftermarket harnesses)

      Your thoughts on a clutch?
