Figured I would do a quick review of the brakes, but more importantly the customer service, since I only looked at the brakes and haven't actually driven the car with them on.

There was some misunderstanding from the customer service rep and it took a while for the package to be shipped. But when that happened, it was in two separate orders due to a mistake the "shipping guy" made. I had to send the second package back cause I wasn't about to pay 300$ duty on 80$ value brake pads, second mistake the "shipping guy" made lol.

However, Rob called me himself and apologized for the inconvenience, and made it right by me. I was a little surprised at first as so far I had pretty terrible experiences with most of the stuff I ordered from US, granted partly due to the insane duties and f'd up customs in Canada.

Brakes themselfs look very stout and well built. All in all I would order from these guys again, and if anything goes sideways it seems like Rob is pretty quick to rectify any deficiencies.

Aren't UUC parts made in the US? You shouldn't have to pay duty on anything manufactured in the US or Mexico..

They are made in US, but that has nothing to do with duties that you have to pay Canadian customs. Maybe you were referring to NAFTA agreement but even then there are certain tariffs that are applied. Basically the Canadian govt is trying to minimize damage to their economy by taxing items that come across the border. I can dispute the charges if it was a service that was performed on MY part, but anything that is MADE outside of Canada is a subject to tax.

Not to argue - but you may have to pay provincial taxes, yes, but not duty. I have plenty of experience with cross border shopping and importing stuff to and from Canada.
I'm not sure how you can get $300 in taxes on $80 in brakes -

Our Canadian Duty Calculator offers cross border shoppers a quickly and easy way to estimate duty rates and taxes on goods being imported into Canada from the United States.

there's even a specific category for brake parts - the most it could be is around $15. If they were telling you $300 they had to be scamming you..

If they were shipped by FedEx or ups, or insert shipping company other than usps here, those companies charge you brokerage fees for the paperwork they fill out when importing it into Canada.
It's not duty, it's brokerage, and they are f'n crooks.
