The m42 in my 318is always starts right up and idles and runs fine, temps stay perfect after a straight hour of running. However, as the engine warms up the idle will gradually rise up to about 1000rpm. Then, with the engine warm, if I shut it off and restart it, it will go back to idling at normal 600-700. I deleted the mess under the intake and I suspect I've got a vacuum leak somewhere from a gasket or two I should have replaced because with the engine cold it has a slight hesitation when hitting the gas, so I guess I'm just wondering if that's normal behavior for the idle to drop back down after restarting the engine.
