So once again, code 1222 showed up, last time replaced the distributor cap and rotor, new spark plugs and it fixed it. This time, started doing it out of no where and figured it’s probably been forever since the O2 sensor was replaced. Disconnected the battery, put a new Bosch sensor on, and per usual when I disconnect the battery, the cars engine idles erratically, but smelt super rich (my guess is the computer is adjusting to the new O2 sensor).
That being said tried reversing and stalled out 3 times. Let the car sit for 10 minutes then tried it again, this time, the idle sat around 700 rpms (have a Dinan chip), drove it around the block and it would drop down to a near stall for a second then back up to a solid 500 rpms.
All the while my engine oil check panel light came on but oil level seems fine. However, no more CEL, did stomp test just to be sure even after the stall out and I get 1444 (no error). And no more 1222
Phew
So, question is, does it take time for the 02 sensor to adjust with the DME, or do i have a whole other set of issues?
