    Whine after new CSB

    Hey yall.
I just replaced my csb, guibo, and all the bushings on the rear end of the car. I'm having a little whine coming from the csb I think after i took the car for a drive today.

When i installed the csb on the driveshaft I did not press it on, instead I just tapped it on until it was all the way past the splines. When I move the driveshaft by hand it spins pretty freely, however I can hear a liiiitle dragging noise, like the dust cap is making contact on the csb. Is it worth it to take the heatshield off and check things out or will the noise go away after some driving?

I only drove it around the block as I need to bleed the brakes a bit more

I also replaced the trans mounts and diff fluid. Maybe the whine is from overtightening the trans mounts?? Kind of sounds like transmission noise, but the transmission was pretty quiet before I did the work

OH MY GOD. I did garagistics full 80a poly bushings kit and I think it might just be the nvh from the diff mount!!! Its so annoying I should have just stuck with rubber for the diff mount smh. Hopefully the poly will 'break in'?

err, no. It's not going to change.

The hard bushings have given you a new 'feature'.

        sorry.

Why people put poly on anything that isn't a track car confuses me to no end.

When you tapped the CSB on, did you hit the inner race or the outer race to put it on? If you hit the outer race, you might have damaged the bearing.

The one place I like hard bushings (oh, baby!) on a street car
            is in the trailing arms-
they don't add much noise, and the rear toe changes a little less.
Plus they're easier to get back together.

I made sure to hit the inner bearing. After a little bit of driving the whine decreased substantially. Maybe the diff fluid needed to warm up a bit. I agree that poly bushings are a bit overkill but honestly the noise isnt too bad and the car feels sooo tight! Very happy :)
