    Towing IX

Howdy...I have an E30 IX that has the rear driveshaft disconnected. Car doesn't start at the moment, after I parked it a while back.

Is it ok if I place the front tires on a car dolly, while the rear tires are rolling? Transmission or any issues?

Towing is kind of pricey, so I'm trying to see if I can do it myself. Thanks

When you say disconnected - is it completely out of the car? Or is one end still connected to something?

If the rear driveshaft is completely out - it should be fine to tow it with the rear wheels on the ground as long as the e-brake is not engaged or the calipers aren't stuck.

Yes when I bought it a while ago, the rear driveshaft was completely out and I haven't put in the new one yet.

Looks like I'm golden just to put the front wheels on the dolly? It's going to be just about 10miles to the new destination. Thanks!

Yep, it'll be fine. Just make sure the diff has fluid in it.
