    H&R OE sport?

I just finished installing the H&R OE Sport Springs p/n 50404-55 and both of the rear springs compress to where they are completely crushed to where all 4 of the large coils are touching. When I drive it feels like I have about 2” of flex and then I get the hard kick from the bump stops.

Is This right? It’s on my ‘89 325i sedan which is all stock other than the bilstein B6 shocks. It sure doesn’t look right. My ride height went down 1” in the rear which I expected, I just don’t feel safe with springs that have no travel to them.

We had the same concern also on an 87 eta. According to H&R it had sufficient "live coils" to do what it was supposed to and, in fact, it did. FYI we ran them with B4s and it was a great DD street suspension.

Thanks Jeff. I installed new inserts and a 22mm sway bar up front and everything feels great except I’m not sure I can live with the constant porpoise action from the rear. I will play with it some more but I’m glad I’m not the only one that was concerned with those springs in the back.

My car is going to be on display at the Greenville international car show put on by motor trend next week so I want to get her tip-top in the next few days.

Not sure exactly what porpoising is but typically when a rear end moves it's all the bushings. Refreshing those (subframe, TA & diff carrier) is on a par with replacing the springs and dampers.
