    Do I have this RIGHT?

From what I understand there were 4 "types" of E 30's manufactured

1..... Most were SEDANS ie: 4 door
2......Next were COUPES ie: 2 door
3......Convertibles.... aka Cabrio, Cabriolet, or Convertible
    4......Tourings aka Station Wagons
So, What the hell is a Vert.........??

    A vert is a conVERTible.

There were two types of convertibles during the e30 production run - one made by Baur, which is more of a targa with a canvas rear section of the roof, the other a factory full convertible.

The factory one is the one normally referred as a vert.

how about the factory e30 m3 truck? It may not have been production, but it was definitely a factory car.

            A lame one.

IMO the reason the "vert" name caught on is it has one less letter to type than "cabrio".

Technically all E30s with a fixed roof are sedans due to the B-pillar and lack of sloping roof...

although to be honest I have referred to my car as a coupe in certain circumstances where it would take to much pointless discussion to convince people that a 2-dr can be a sedan.

THAT's the lame part. I hate stoopid abbreviations (see how many syllables that is??)

Ah, the old "bitch basket," easily my favorite colloquial moniker for a car.

Did E30s ever get anything to stick besides yuppie mobile?

Ever notice if you look closely at the 'M3 truck' that it's a Baur convertible that they converted, not a factory one? Still says Baur on the B-Pillar :)

Would be an easy way to build one - take the side windows off, stick the targa section to the roof and then just fill in the back window / tray area.

"Yuppie Mobile" is the only nickname that really stuck from the 80s.
