    Bronzit Beige 1989 325i 2 Door

I found this late model two door locally here in Seattle, WA via an E30 FaceBook group. The previous owner had posted the car for sale on December 26th for half an hour, before quickly taking the entire for sale ad down. He was selling to attain a good friends parents E28, however the owner of the E28 decided they weren't ready to sell. I stayed in touch with the previous owner and would periodically check back in with him every few days. I'm glad I stayed in touch with him as the car sounded promising, and the car was located less than 2 miles from my place!

On January 14th, I purchased the car and have been focusing on making it a solid, reliable daily driver. According to the CarFax I paid for, the car has very few previous owners, all in the Pacific Northwest and a heck of a lot of chassis miles. I didn't believe the functioning odometer when I bought it, but the CarFax report backs up this beauty has 380K miles! Clearly the car was well kept and maintained for the vast majority of these miles. I'm unsure if the motor is original to the car or not. It runs very smoothly after a recent maintenance update.

    Some details:

    Production Date: 1989-04-11
    Type 325i (USA)
    Series E30 (3 series)
    Body Type LIM
    Steering Left Hand Drive
    Engine M20
    Displacement 2.50
    Power 170hp
    Drive Heck
    Transmission Automatic
    Color Bronzit Beige Metallic (139)
    Upholstery (166)
    Comfort & Interior Equipment:
    S410A Window Lifts Electric Front
    S530A Air Conditioning
    S540A Cruise Control
    S556A Outdoor Temperature Indicator
    Wheels
S286A BMW LA Wheel BMW Styling
    S925A VERSANDSHUTZPAKET

The car is stock with the exception of Bilstein B6 HD's at all four corners, a so-so Clarion HU, aftermarket rear deck lid speakers, and the 15" Ronal LS wheels from my sedan. The car came on a set of 15" nogaro silver euroweaves that are now on my sedan.

    Cons:
High chassis miles, but the paint and body is very nice as well as the drivetrain and interior. Nearly rust free
Cracked dash (have a perfect dash for it)
RF fender was crunched, since replaced

    Maintenance Update
I want to use this car daily while also restoring some of it's short comings. Here is a list of whats been accomplished in the past month:
    • Timing Belt (Continental)
    • Timing Belt Tensioner
    • Cam Seals
    • Water Pump
    • Thermostat
    • Distributor Cap
    • Distributor Rotor
    • Bosch Ignition Coil
    • Spark Plugs
    • Fuel & Air Filter
    • Valve Cover Gasket
    • Valve Adjustment
    • Oil Change - Mobil 1 15w-50
    • OEM Oil Filter
    • MTC Magnetic Drain Plug
    • Coolant Flush with OE BMW Blue Coolant
    • Automatic Transmission Fluid Flush
    • New Interior Door Switch Installed
    • Replaced clips and hardware for under dash kick panel
    • A-Pillar Blank Purchased & Installed (Have factory premium audio tweeters I need to install)
    • 3 Spoke sport steering wheel
    • Used, matching Bronzit front fender installed
    • Used, matching Bronzit gas door installed
    • OEM "i" Front Valence Lip installed with new OEM clips
    • OEM Fog Lights Installed (were missing from the car. Need to replace glass)
    • Used, excellent condition Hirschmann antenna installed
    • Factory shadowline trim for the passenger side sail trim. Have all shadowline ready for the car

After it's first bath a few weeks ago:

After the slew of maintenance, wheel swap, fender, trim and lip install

I've also pieced together a set of five, 14" basketweave wheels with center caps. The set was a bit rough and have been cleaning them up by hand. If I can't get them to my standards I'll get them powdercoated. For rubber I got an unrealdeal off Discount Tire Direct for a set of Goodyear Ultra Grip Winters.

    Purchased OE Euro Grilles locally

Freshly repainted bronzit side mirrors in the mail from a member in LA

Pieces I'm still looking for: Drivers side window seal, radiator shroud, RF plastic bumper guide, Engine bay undertray/splash panel.

Almost pieced together a full 5 speed swap for it! Installing that, E46 M3 rear strut mounts and OE M3 Springs all around and it should be pretty much all set! Thanks for reading

That looks to be in great shape for 380K+ miles. Nice find. And nice score on the nogaro silver euroweaves!

Nice, I saw this on the E30 group as well and wanted it badly. Glad it found a good home.

Nice bronzit. I'm shocked at how good the nogaro euroweaves on bronzit. Maybe not everyone's of tea, but I thought they would really clash which is why I didn't buy them.

It's got me rethinking my decision.

The guy I bought it from was really nice. To be honest I really feel like I rescued the car. When I did the timing belt it basically began to disintegrate in my hands. It was very needing of the timing belt, tune up and fluids. It runs awesome now!

The euroweaves look perfect on the lachs car. I think the Ronals look way better on here.

I personally thought the nogaro clashed big time with the bronzit. I think they look much better on a silver or a darker colored car.

Lots of updates since the last post! I have been busy making this a suitable daily driver. A 996.2 is calling my name so who knows how long I'll end up keeping both these E30's. This car really brings a smile to my face everytime I drive it so I'm sure I'll keep it through the summer, take it to the Picnic in June and a road trip down the Oregon Coast this September.
            • Purchased a complete fabric sport interior that is in very good shape. I also have the door cards & rear seat. I've been cleaning it up this past week.
            • Finally washed the car after all the snow we got hit with in Seattle.
            • Installed the gorgeous painted side mirrors from DELPHINtimecapsule
            • Got an under tray splash panel for the engine bay from Lance Richert. I like everything to be complete on my cars
            • Got a 360mm Nardi Steering Wheel with hub from the R3V FaceBook group page
            • Got a DS A-pillar blank. I also got a set of premium audio tweeters from a friend, who is currently looking for them in his parts stash lol
            • Pieced together a nice set of 14" basketweaves and caps and mounted these 185/70 Goodyear Ultra Grip Winters on.
            • Sourced a clean, crack free dash locally (sorry, no pictures)
            • Got Lemforder E46 M3 Rear HD strut mounts. They're totally blown out on the car now. The car rides on Bilstein B6 HD currently
            • Next up is sourcing everything for a 5 speed manual swap and a new windshield.

Nice score man! As lame as it sounds, now that my daily e30 is manual I'm on the look out for another auto sedan e30 for just commuting, so maybe just give it a thought to keep it auto since you have a manual one for fun back roads already. Regardless I'm sure you'll do this e30 right.

I can see where you're coming from, and if it was latter gen 3-series, like an E9x, I wouldn't have an issue with it being auto, but I just think the 4HP22 auto in these is soul-sucking and robs the e30 of being fun to drive.

Thanks! I feel the same way. Got a bit more to come before the E30 Picnic this June. Hoping to refurbish the front & rear subframes with new bushings, H&R Sports & Bilstein Sports (B8's) + an E36 steering rack conversion.

Thanks! I agree, a rare find at this mileage.

So when I first bought the car is stunk like weed inside, specifically like a freshly smoked blunt. That dissipated over time to realize that this was once owned by a smoker. I do not smoke and the mild smell became annoying to me. I replaced the entire interior this weekend with a beautiful set of fabric sport seats. I have yet to install the door panels as I ran out of Griots Interior Cleaner from a weekend of scrubbing.
No pics yet, but I power washed all the OE floor mats last night at the local car wash palace. Those should now look even better. I also did the carpet really nice and pulled any stains the car had. The smell is gone! I also put the Nardi wheel in. That thing feels great.

I want to send out the injectors to be rebuilt and do all the top end gaskets on the car. It seems to get pretty bad gas mileage, like 17-19mpg on 92 octane. All the ignition components are new so I'm wondering why it seems to be so thirsty.
5 speed swap to be completed pre-picnic.

Looks as though the sedan may be finding a new home...

Depends. Certain pedal assemblies didnt include the mounting nuts for the clutch master.
The bronzit from Juan requires an assembly swap.

I bought the car with a manual transmission pedal assembly already installed as you see it. I haven't investigated much more into it. Not sure if a previous owner had once had a complete 5 speed in it, or at some point began a swap and abandoned it.

The car is getting it's crack free dash installed as I type.

Purchased a set of Depo smilies which will receive a 4300k HID kit in the low beams, as well as a pristine set of refinished fog lights off the forum.

And those cloth sport seats. I'm not usually a fan of cloth seats in e30, but I really like these.
