ST E36 coilovers VS Ground Control coilovers

    Hello,

I know someone selling a brand new set of ST E36 M3 coilovers and some ebay camber plates, for 450$ I Also have 318ti trailing arms so I could easily finish the setup.

So i could probably finish the setup for 900-1000$

BAV auto is having a sale on Koni adjustable shocks and for 4 its 500$ GC's are 500$

    So 1000$ give or take

Discover the ultimate performance upgrades for your BMW Track car. Parts for the E30, E36, E46, E9x & more. Condor has the best quality American-made engine mounts, suspension bushings, brake lines & more!

So my question is how much of compromise is running a E36 5 lug in suspension geometry, I've read there is issues unless it is done properly.

    Thanks

Why do you want to convert to 5 lug? What are you looking to achieve ?
Just suspension upgrade? or Upgraded suspension, brakes, wheel selection, etc.

I'm not really concerned about ether its 5 or 4 lug, theirs a kit that convert teh hubs and brakes from 4 to 5 lug that is reasonably priced. I'm asking if compared would the E36 ST coilovers vs the Groundcontrol's, which would be the better buy. I figure they'll probably e comparable in the end for both setup's.

Ground control because it is a modular setup designed for e30. You have the option to pick from available spring rates and various shock inserts. And if you go with koni or bilstein, they are serviceable.
With e36 ST, you are locked into whatever they are configured to.

Well it sounds like he is just talking about GC sleeve kit and off the shelf Koni's... Which is how GC gets a bad rap with some people around here. A true GC kit is shortened housings, re-valved Koni's, GC camber plates and rear mounts, which is an awesome street/track compromise setup.

I'm not a fan of e36 stuff because of the offset, and wonky front geometry but for a street car that doesn't really matter at all.

Maybe look into BC's as well. They are garbage IMO but some people seem to like them and they can be purchased new for under $1k.

Ground Control just recently released a coil over kit that includes a set of engineered / fabricated front strut housings so you don't have to chop yours up to go full coil over. This is a great option for those who want to retain their OEM front strut housings in case they ever want to go back.

THIS KIT INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:  2 Ground Control fabricated struts with single adjustable Koni strut inserts adjustable strut inserts. 2 Koni single adjustable rear shocks  1 Pair front Camber Plates. 4 Ground Control springs, made by Eibach (limited selection to match ) 4 Ground Control bump stops (made in Germany)

I have the GC coil over kit on my E30 M3 (yeah, i know, slightly different suspension than a non-M car) and it is great. I'd definitely recommend it.
