Here is a list of thorough questions sent from a potential buyer - should answer most of your questions.

1. How many owners and how long did the last owner have the car for? How many miles does it have now?
Not sure on how many owners. The person I bought it from picked it up at an auction. It has 216k on it now.
2. Is the engine original, if so was it ever rebuilt. If it isn't the original, then what happened to the original, and how many miles are on this engine?
Definitely the original. No signs leading me to believe otherwise.
3. Do you have any service records? How about receipts?
Nada. No service records or receipts.
4. Have you had any repairs/work done to the car, if so, then what? Did you do the work yourself, or did you have it done elsewhere. If you had the work done elsewhere, where did you have it done?
N/a - nothing has been done to this car besides giving it a cleaning :)
5. How often do you change the fluids. What fluids have you changed? How often was the oil changed?
N/a as well
6. Has the odometer stopped working? Has it been replaced?
Looks to be original, and working.
7. Did you garage the car? How often would you say you cleaned/waxed the car? Did you use it during the winter months?
n/a- no idea ;)
8. Have you done any modifications to the car? Do you know of any that have been done prior to your purchase?
This car is stock. It's got a factory wood shift knob - does that count?
9. How long have you owned your car? Are you the original owner, if not, then what number owner are you? Why are you selling? How long has the car been for sale?
I have had this car 2 weeks. I have no idea how many people owned the car before me. I'm selling because I have too many cars, and got a good deal on this one. It has been for sale for 2 weeks.
10. Has this car been in a accident?
I don't think so - aside from the fender benders pictured.
11. Has your car been repainted?
The only panel that looks like it might have been repainted is the pass front door. If you look in the pics, it looks to be a slightly different shade.
12. What is wrong with the car? Does the interior ever get wet when it rains?
Just needs some TLC - very clean car. I saw no leaks, and it rained quite a bit up here.
13. Is the title clear and clean?
Yes it is.
14. Is it a problem if I have my mechanic look over the car?
Of course, a mechanic can look at it for you.
15. Is the registration current?
Nope.
16. Has the car ever failed inspection? If so, then for what? Was said problem fixed?
No idea.

Interior Inspection:
1. Check the power door locks, windows, and sunroof work.
All work.
2. Check to see if the interior carpet is wet.
No.
3. Check if there any cracks in the dashboard.
Not that I can find.
4. Check to see if the headliner is intact.
Looks good.
5. Check for stains in the carpet.
Not that I could find.
6. Take note of whether the seats fully function - do they recline, do the move back and forth? What's the condition of the seats? Check to see if the seatbelts work and see if they are anchored properly.
Function properly. The driver's seat bottom is torn. Seatbelts all function.
7. Check to see if the horn works.
Yep :)
8. Check to see id the trunk carpet is wet.
Nope :)

Exterior Inspection:
1. Check out the wheels. Do they look bent? Do they have any curb rash? Do they have all their wheel caps?
They're steel wheels, they look straight, the hubcaps are all there - the roundels are yellowed a bit.
2. Check out the condition of the tires. Does the rubber look good. Do they look properly inflated? Are there any bulges/bubbles? How much tread is left?
They're 205/60's - little wider than stock. Nice tires.
3. Check to see if all the driving lights work, including high beams, fog lights, and blinkers.
Everything works except the pass fog - but it's there.
4. Check the glass around the car. Do the windows look like the go up all the way? Are there any cracks/chips in the windshield?
Glass went up and down, no cracks or chips in the windshield.
5. Check out the lenses on the taillights, headlights, fog lights, and side markers for cracks.
As pictured, front driver's turn signal lense busted, and dr rear tail. Already ordered front, rear I need to find.
6. Get under the car and take a look at the brake lines.
Everything looks ok under.
7. Check out the suspension and bushing components.
Suspension and bushing feel ok.
8. Check under the engine for oil leaks.
Not that I found.
9. Check to make sure all the VIN numbers match. There is one on each of the front fenders, one in the door, and another on the dashboard.
Yes.
10.Check for bent floorpans and jacking points.
Not that I saw.
11. Check the following places for rust:
- fenders - not really
- license plate light area - nope
- lift points- nope
- rocker panels-nope
- four corners of the floorboard-neg
- lower parts of the doors-VERY little starting to show here - surface only.
- under the battery in the trunk - no
- behind the rear wheel wells - no
- sunroof - no
- fuel tank - no
- fuel door - no
- strut towers - no
- the seal around the front and rear winshield - no
- rear cross-member - no
- brake calipers - not really

Test Drive:
1. When you start the engine, notice if any lights stay lit on the instrument panel? Also press the check button on the overhead check panel to see if anything stays lit. - Nope.

2. Check to see if you hear any belt noises. Notice if they go away once the engine warms up - Nope.

3. Do you notice any noise when you turn the steering wheel? - Nope.

4. How does the engine run? Is it smooth? Is there any blue smoke coming from the exhaust? Do it buck or hesitate? - Runs rough, I'm almost positive a timing tensioner is to blame.
5. Check to see if the brakes are mushy. Does the car vibrate when you apply the brakes at slow speeds? - brakes feel solid, no vibrations.

6. Check to see if the clutch engages properly. Is it hard to shift into gear? Does the shift lever feel loose. Is there a smooth transition from gear to gear. Do you hear any unusual noises coming from the tranny? - Shifts smoothly, no unusual noises (TOB, ISB, etc.) Clutch friction or grab point is higher than usual - suspect a clutch will be due in the next 5-10k miles.
7. Check to see if the A/C and heater work. Does the fan operate on all 4 settings? - Fan operates, no cold air though.
8. If you can, check to see if the rear window defroster works? Does the front windshield fog up when the heater is on? - button works - not sure if it works physically.
9. Check the engine teperature. Is it reading normal? - yep.

10. Check the windshield wipers work? How about the washer fluid? - Something's amiss with the wiper motor. Not sure what it is.

11. When you are done with your test drive, put the car in neutral(or park) and pull up on the ebrake. Open the hood and see if the engine is smoking. How does everything sound? Do you hear any hissing or ticking? - no smoking or hissing, but the chain is loud and causes a rough idle.

The important stuff that I'd like to know are:
1) How old the suspension is (how do the shocks feel?). I may want to swap some H&Rs and Bilstein Sports right off the bat. - Sounds like a plan - gets the suspension question right out of the way. I may be selling a set of bilsteins - I could even install them with a set of H&R's if you wanted.
2) Are there any leaks in the AC system? Please verify that it only needs a recharge. This may be a big ticket item for me.
No way to verify really - it's an R12 system as all E30's are, and chances of leaks are high. I haven't used AC in an E30 ever.
3) The two dents that you spoke about. Obviously, I'll take a look at the pictures and we can talk about it.
Hopefully the fairly detailed pics speak for themselves.
4) Clutch- how does it feel? Do you know if it was ever changed and if so, when?
See above note - I'd recommend a clutch in 10k, depending on driving style.
