I'll see both Charlie and trent's videos and raise with mine

This is a South African track at 1500m altitude, i.e. major advantage to the turbo guys.

Some of those guys were way off line. Nice driving.
And I thought PIR was small.

Seems like you guys had a lot of fun but that was pretty bad. No flaggers, people going sideways and changing directions while turning and passing allowed everywhere with inexperienced drivers is pretty dangerous. I'm glad there was no accidents. The good thing is you seemed to be disciplined enough. Just my opinion anyway.

I was a bit worried in some corners and backed off. They forgot to put back the fuel filler cap after refuelling and I was not sure if I would slip on the fuel or not .

Normally things are much stricter, however the chairman of the BMW Club wanted to allow more freedom - it has worked out well on a few occassions but I agree that something is bound to happen someday.

"Drifting" is not allowed and you will notice that Derrick gets black-flagged the second time he went past the clerk of the course. I was also black flagged for sliding - not even drifting.

I must say that I enjoy the overtaking into corners (nice war stories to take home) but also agree with you that it can be dangerous with inexperienced drivers that can turn in on you. Problem is, where do you draw the line with experience and tell a person that he/she is too inexperienced to drive in the group where passing into corners is allowed ?

If you don't allow passing at all, many people will get frustrated when their laps get ruined by slower traffic that does not back off on the straights (common problem). Note : We had transponders for the day with trophies up for grabs.

To Mastrcruse, kommissar, joshh - thanks guys.

I think the track is only 1.6km long. It is very hard on the brakes though with a couple of heavy braking zones and not enough "recovery" distance between them.

That track doesn't really have a "straight" to allow passing. So either way it would be difficult to not allow some form of passing. Usually you tell everyone to stay on line and the passing car needs to "make the move" off line to make the pass. That way the passing car can have some predictability with the car being passed. That's another reason why it's important for people to understand where the line is.
                      Looked like lots of fun!
You were deffinately waiting for some of those cars.

Thanks. Unfortunately my Alpina B3 is still undergoing racecar conversion

so my daily driver had to do track duty

On track I reach a top speed of 180km/h, so the track's "straights" have some potential.

Speakin of inexperienced drivers... hows about that oke in his scooby who just wanted to turn into the Gt3 :p

IMO, I'm in 2 minds about the overtakin, I know that for the more experienced drivers it isn't much of a problem... but it's when u get an inexperienced driver (aka scooby man) , and he just turns in on u... then it can get out of hand... IMO

but what I've witnessed is that they are normally a lot stricter with overtaking.

That mess of a harness is exactly what my car looks like. But my steering wheel is on the correct side.;)
