    Pretty good 0-62 time for a standard 318is E30

I just tried get a 0-62 time with my G-Tech Pro and the result was ~ 8.8 sec. The G-Tech measuires only 0-60 time which was 8.35 and by adding ~0.5 sec to that gives 0-62 time pretty closely.

I have owned my 318is 2 weeks now and there should not be any mods in it, except the DTM- exhaust (cat-back). I have opened the ECU-box and the chip seemed to stardard.

What kind of times you have got with 318is (e30)

What, I assume that I'm not the only one who has measured 0-60 time?

the 318 isn't a straight line car at all- it's not meant to beat out the drag race cars.

Basically- Not too many people are going to care about how fast their little 318 can jump up to 60. and 8 seconds or whatever it was for you is slower than most new cars today, including kias, hundais and all those other crappy cars.

the e30 in general is a car meant for the corners, as are most BMWs in my opinion.

Yeah.. the E30 can give you the illusion that you are really tearing up the track. I was attempting to outrun this pack of motorcycles earlier today so once the traffic light turned green, I nailed it to the floor and it felt like I was going so fast that my back was literally stuck to my seat. So here I am thinking that I am FLYING down the road, and the street bikes were just casually passing me on the highway. Its not like they had their bikes opened up either. I was expecting them to go "WHEEEEEEN" as they passed me but the engines were probably under 4000 RPM because all of the bikes that passed me had the calm sounding "bluba-bluba-bluba" as if they weren't going that fast at all.

8.8 isn't that good, at all, but the 318 is still a fun car to drive...

My 316 will keep up with lots of cars from a standstill, but it's not fast at all, but when it comes to cornering, well, most FWD lag behind, and kias and the sort just don't handle corners, so in the long run, E30's win ;)

I tend to out corner people who tailgate me on the back roads. I often take sharp turns and go over rough surfaces on the road without slowing down to keep them off of my back but one day I think that someone is going to be so determined to sit on my bumper that they are going to slide off the road. Maybe I need an oil slick mod installed.

so is it to be understood that I couldn't build an E30 to compete with the likes of B16 civics, integras, mustangs, and other common street racers? Because if so, then I've just been royally dissappointed.

edit: not that I'll be street racing, but it's fun to play around at times.

It would be fun just to see who decides to back up off of you when they see your car not knowing that it isn't quite as fast as it looks. Just show up and start yelling, "WHOOO HOO! Who wants to race? I'm ready to do this!"

Please don't buy any BMW. If you plan on building something to go street racing and "kick some ass" then you are probably barking up the wrong tree.
