    The white pearl

Hey guys it’s been a long time since I have posted a build but I figured this one is worth sharing!

So I’ll introduce you to the white pearl, I call it that because the car was a very neglected 1989 325i sedan repainted pearl white. With the being said you’d think ... gross. But ! This was a virtually rust free New England car that has only been painted 1 time in its life ! That’s a rarity that I’m sure all New England car guys will agree with.

So I found this car on Craigslist for $2500 and upon looking at that pix it seemed well worth a look. So I get intouch with the owner and he sounds to be close to my age/generation, he says come by and check it out ! So I head over and meet his father ... clearly not a car guy at all but very friendly. Story on the car is it hasn’t been on the road for 10 years it needed a “sensor” he stated because it would die and not restart. He’s telling me this information as the car is running, durning his story im looking over at the motor and notice the head is smoking (great sign) open the coolant res and it’s dead empty. So I look the car over and it literally has NO rust , interior is trash, tires dry rotted, painted by a person with little to no vision. I tell the guy that I’m fairly familiar with these cars and I said I’m fairly sure it needs a motor, we talk for a bit and I say “listen I’ll give you $1000 and I’ll get it out of here today” he agrees and I come back with a truck and trailer and bring her home.

So as I get into the car I find some small rust spots ... still this is NOTHING compared to what I’m used to seeing on e30’s

Fast forward a little and I’m preparing to remove the motor at my shop! Luckily I had a really nice 91 vert with a 120k on its m20!

So a little info . I know some people could give a shit less, I myself usually skim through and look at the pix! But To each his own ! I’ll just put a little info in between, so I originally bought his car for myself but this e30 ended up fitting my girlfriends needs better than mine! She has an 87 5spd vert and we are basically trading cars. So I’m building this car for her :)!

So right around here is where I’m sure we can all figure out why the motor is coming out

So here’s what happened! Upon going over this car I found the fuse removed that controls the SI board and various other items. I replace that fuse and I find that the SI Board has failed and is constantly illuminating the red square. Well in the infinite wisdom these guys had for some reason thought that light was killing the battery (I’m assuming) and pulled it... disabling the temp gauge, I then found the throttle body heater gasket had failed . Put it all together ... the tb gasket continued to leak till there was no coolant and they just kept going haha
