Try e46 vert rears if you want a little more lift in the rear.

Thanks, I will check those out once I do my rear subframe bushings.

Right now the wheel is too far forward in the rear, so raising it any more just will move the wheel even closer to the body kit.
I know my subframe bushings are shot, I want to make sure that they are not contributing to the situation at all before I start figuring out what to do with the rear.
      Thanks,
      Matt

I wonder if theres another trailing arm that is a little longer that can give the height and bring the wheel back into the center of the wheel well...

I have been day dreaming about doing this a lot more lately because the roads near me are so bad. These builds make me really want to do it!

I was under the car the other day and the exhaust heat shielding rattled a nut loose so it was sitting on the exhaust, the exhaust itself had rattled loose and the wheel weights were even falling off! my car is a mess! haha Time to lift it!

You just need to space the subframe down so the trailing arm angle is closer to stock. Otherwise your toe will be messed up (toe out in the back) and camber will be positive, which is horrible for handling and safety.

That would be the easiest route for sure, but I have no clue what the possible sources are. I always thought about those custom adjustable DTM style control arms but using them for more lift as opposed to performance and adjustability.

I have thought about this as well, but I had some concerns. Since the iX has the bushing body that is already "dropped" a bit I was worried about the side load body holes since I am moving the bushing down even more. I was also worried about driveline angle since the iX has the straight rear driveshaft but I guess that is only pretty minor. Both of those concerns could be "not enough to matter" easily but that is just what I was thinking during some brainstorming.

In other news, I am in talks with a local with an M21.... we will see where that leads ;D

The top secret +24 engine configuration

Wanted to give some updates, M21 block is at the machine shop. Putting it on the backburner until I get my F10 back up and running, that block/heads are also at the machine shop since BMW said I'm still months out from an engine.

Picked up a new fuel tank, started collecting all the rear subframe bushings to do at the same time as the engine swap. Going to throw some Hella 500FFs on the roof rack since I do a lot of back roads driving these days at night. Going to swap in the 3.91s with the M21 as well.

Also hopefully working out some details about maybe starting to rebuild t-case VCs soon...

Here's some of the highlights from the horrible weather here in the midwest.

Driving through the yard after a few inches of snow.Lifted + on big tires.

                  Thanks,

You should get on the ix sub section when/if you do the viscus coupling rebuilds.

Looks like you are having as much fun as I am with my ix.

I definitely will! Still having my machine shop friend take a look at a couple spare VCs I picked up so we will see how comfortable he is with the process.

Not many updates lately as the F10 is taking my time/money, but I just wanted to share how awesome the alignment specs are looking with the lift:

Very satisfied for being completely stock with the lift. I guess I have some more room to grow without needing aftermarket adjustability.

Also, mounted some Hella 500FFs to the roof to help out offroad:

                      Thanks,

You said your tire size is 27 x 8.5 is that on a 14 or 15 inch wheel? I am have trouble finding this size for 15 inch ix wheels.

No, the ix only ever came with the M20B25.

14s. Running normal e30 weaves right now.

Ive got a 1990 325i and recently swapped in 535i springs in the front. and e36 springs/with custom spacer into the rear. I definitely got the lift i was after. However, running those spring rates is nearly undrivable on gravel roads. the car skips over potholes and loses traction from such a stiff suspension setup.

Do you experience this with your suspension setup?
