    According to realoem, the front and rear headrest are the same part number.

      I scavenged parts off an e36 cab and was able to make them work. Also replaced my front headrests with E36 units.

      Heres the best pic that I have:


      The newer brackets aren't plug n play. They are the same shape and I was able to customize them to fit. One of the slide inserts is also squared off inside making the e30 headrests not fit. This insert can he scavenged from the donor car's front headrest or another car. I think that I then used either an E36 or E34's rear headrests. I cant recall specifically which one. They all generally fit.

          The roof comes up easily with them on and there is plenty of clearance.
