    Barn find value 318is

Friend of friends dad has a 318is manual with a decent exterior and immaculate interior.
    One owner
Driven regularly no known issues other than broken odometer. 200k miles
    No accidents
He wants me to make an offer?
Where is that sweet spot for value? Where I don't offend anyone and get a good value for this car?

Hard to say without seeing it, maybe $1400?

IMO anything up to $2K would be a decent deal if it's been maintained and is clean. If it's rusty and needs a ton of work, I wouldn't pay more than a grand.

            I was thinking 3-4k offer?
I thought a clean 318is would go for way more than 2k?

Yeah no shit, the interior is immaculate, no rust, exterior sounds like it's good for the age of the car, and it's a 318is (sought after for some people), one owner, sounds like its well kept and people are saying fuckin $1400? Did we go back to 2008?

                Condition matters more than miles.

I didn't think we were talking "value" as much as, "how cheap can I get this cool car some guy has in his barn"

Car is obviously worth more thank $2k but this doesn't seem like a case of "let me give this guy full market value."

Plus 318iS values have gotten blown out of proportion by BAT. Everyone thinks they're worth $$$$ when realistically most of them are not (outside of minty examples).

OP if you're not looking to go super cheap on it I think up to $5K would be fair for both parties.

Isn't a barn find generally a car that has been sitting for 30yrs in a barn?

This sounds like an old car that someone has owned since new, driven all the time, alot of miles plus god knows what since the odometer that is broken. Doesn't sound that special to me....

and its a waste of time even asking without photos:/

                        Re

Yes technically not a barn find
But in some ways better, everything is lubricated and not rotted out.
I am driving it this weekend and will get more history Aand.see what other issues it has .

I have been looking for a coupe off and on for awhile now, was hoping for a 325is
                        I don't look for 318is.
This one fell into my lap and it's one of the nicer original coupes I have seen.
We have all.seen the beater ones.
Body has some small door dings here and there, paint is oxidized,
Right passenger quarter panel has shinier paint but supposedly has not been painted

I hear these crazy stories about how much people are getting for 318is,
And was trying to get a feel.for where the market is in cali.

I am not sure if I will even like the 4 banger, but i am in position 1 to make an offer on a really clean original owner 318is
