ABS light on - not sure what to try next.

    Hello,

I have an ABS light that turns on when the wheels start turning.
I've followed the ABS troubleshooting post about plugging in 1 sensor at a time to find the cluprit.

I've found the sensor that seems to be problem (it doesnt produce an ABS light when it is the only one plugged in).

After replacing it I'm still getting the same issue. I'm not very familiar with how I would go about testing the wiring to the sensor, can someone give me some advice on what test to use on my multimeter and where to perform the test?

    thanks.

IIRC rather than leaving one plugged in at a time, you should unplug one at a time then drive a few feet to activate the system

"disconnect all but one of the sensors and drive the car. If the light comes on, that sensor is sending a speed signal to the ABS and is good"

so I interpret this as if you have one plugged in and get an error that sensor is good.
      Unless I am misunderstanding this?

Still looking for some advice on how to troubleshoot abs wiring.

Issue resolved. During my troubleshooting I'd left the rear sensor disconnected, so when I replaced the faulty sensor up front it wasn't clearing ABS. Once i reconnected it was fine.

Glad my mechanic couldn't troubleshoot my ABS, when I have no prior knowledge and read the one authoritative thread on how to troubleshoot ABS and fixed it.

I'm really sick of lazy mechanics who say things "aren't fixable" instead of just saying they don't want to work on an e30. I salute mechanics who'd rather turn down e30 work than do a half assed job.
