    Brake pad wear sensor wiring

When I got my E30 it was missing brake pad wear sensors. I got them replaced and all was well for a bit until this morning on the way to work when the light came on out of the blue. I discovered that front sensor wire rubbed through on the wheel and broke.

Is there a certain way the wires need to be routed to they don't come in contact with the wheel or should there be a clip holding them in place?

The rubber grommet slips in to the tab on the strut housing pointing up, then to the wheel hub. These lights are notoriously random so I just take the new sensor and tie it in a knot attached to the strut just to keep the light out. Actually monitoring pad wear should be easy enough without sensors if you work on the car yourself.

Ok thanks. I do all the work myself but like having all the components functioning as they were designed at the factory.
