    Climate Control Unit failure?

Hello, I was wondering if it is possible that my climate control unit has failed. specifically the cold/heat adjuster. If i remember correctly this part is not mechanic and is electrical..

I came across this thought because my AC is not working. The compressor is engaging and there is the correct amount of refrigerant in the system. I just replaced the blower motor.

Funny thing is that before i installed my new blower motor I swore I felt cold air coming through my vents.

Anyways , AC on , the dial was to the coldest temp and then I turned to the hottest just to check and then when I turned it back to coldest, the air stayed blistering hot.

I am not sure what else it could be and I couldn't find anything about a failing climate control unit. Is there anything else I should check for?

the dial is both electric and mechanical but the electric signal goes to the heater control valve, which adjusts how much coolant enters the heater core. It's more common for the heater control valve to fail

it's a Kenny Powers quote on wheels

There is also a fuse just above the control valve that could be bad
The difference between porcupines and BMWs is that porcupines have the pricks on the outside!

Okay! Can the heater control cause my ac to never work?

In short...yes. The dial controls a blend door that directs air either through the evaporator to cool, the heater core to heat or a combination of the two for temps in between. The door is cable operated so it is possible to fail.

It's possible that the door is being blocked. I jammed the temp sensor through the fins on a new evaporator and it deflected since it's so soft and it actually kept my blend door from opening completely. It's also possible for AC to not cool, very well even when fully charged... up that's another (long) story.

Man... sounds like an easy fix but I might just retrofit 134a.. I think itll be better in the long run, considering this system has constantly given me problems...

conversion is a whole other conversation especially if you can make what you have work well
