For sure. The reason I wear the suit(I change after every session) is that is the way I'm going to be during a race and I need to be comfortable in the racecar. It also makes the changeover when I drive my dad's car a lot easier as far as the belts are concerned(we are VERY differently sized).
So yes, you would look like an idiot walking around the paddock fully decked out, but I hop in the trailer and change as soon as I'm out of the car. And I am pretty good if I do say so myself. Not ego, just basing it on what I've heard from instructors and other racers.
