My '91 318is needs a new muffler. The original (when I got it) was a Midas that eventually rusted off on the engine side of the muffler. Put on a cheap replacement with several adapters (Autozone) to get it on the road.
I was looking at Bosal, Ansa and AP products cat-back products, then found a factory (BMW marked) muffler on ebay. Just purchased it.
This is only the 'rear silencer' part. I'll get the proper hangers, but how does it attach to the middle (resonator) part? Butt to butt (with the stainless clamp)? Is one side flared to fit over the other? I may have to do a bit of work if the aftermarket (Midas) cut the original pipe when they installed it...
