Track car: e30 s52 swap vs E36 M3/4/5

I love the whole thing.

With a 2.0 litre how do you end up in the same class as an E36 w. S54?
Regardless it was fun to watch.
How modified is the 2.0?

I'd love to hear more details,,, so few people race M42 / M44s

Its a fairly modified M42,I have a thread on it here:

Generally, its a 2.0 M42 with modified head, cams, solid lifters, ITB's, etc.

Its a lap time based class, bracket racing essentially.
