E90 drop hats

I'm installing H&R sport springs tonight with E90 hats and I seem to be having a clearance issue between the E90 hat and the strut bearing mount plate. When assembled the bearing plate doesn't want to turn even with the stock washers in place. It's obvious why it won't turn after seeing that the strut mount is contacting the E90 hat. Do these hats only work on RWD?

I can see it working if I stack another washer or two between the hat and mount or cutting off some of the strut bearing mount "dust shield"...the part that is actually causing he clearance issue.

Or I can just put the stock hats back on...

Thoughts?

PS-they don't work on iX's. I didn't realize I was mounting them upside down compared to how RWDs mount. iX mounts are different.

Thanks for the info. Right-away I was going to say that they most likely will not work. I am sure this has been covered before.
