    M30 Turbo engine build

Alright, I'm finally starting to out together a built M30 engine. So might as well document the whole deal. I've had the parts for 5 years and if your asking why so long, well the junk yard engine hasn't blown up yet.!

    Here's the laundry list:
    M90 block-line honed-bored-decked
    B35 Head
    Cam to be determined
    86mm B35 crank
94mm JE pistons w/total seal gapless top rings
    PPM 144mm rods
Custom Twin Scroll manifold by me and intake
    Borg Warner SX300 91/79

Here's me after priming the block.

ARP Main studs, FYI when installing main studs the mains need to be checked for roundness as more clamping load can make them out of round. Thanks to John from WOT "Forcedfirebird" for teaching me this as the mains needed a line hone.
    Thanks John..!!!
As a side note, the block was line honed with the stock bolts but needed it again with the ARP's.

Crank in place, studs torqued and thrust bearing seated.

I'll add pics as it progresses. Next on the list is to file fit the rings.

    this will be a beast.

the counterweight balance drilling on M30 cranks has always baffled me.

whats your opinion on the "race" bearings? worth the extra money? I'm still deciding between OEM of those for my build.

Right on!! My m90 block is sitting on the side, I totally have the intentions in punching it out further as you did. Any personal tips or tricks to file fitting rings?

Thanks man, you're a major contributor to the m30 crowd.

Otis, the total seal rings, is there a particular reason why you went with the top ring instead of the secondary ring? Is there any kind of particular benefit in chosing the top ring over the secondary ring, when using those total seal rings?

What compression ratio with the pistons and b35 head?

Never used race bearings they don't add HP. IMO OEM bearings last for 300k+ so I don't see the added benefit for race one's. That's my take on it.

It's more critical to have the correct clearance's on the rotating assembly, main & rod bearings.

This will be the first time using gapless top, always used gapless secondary one's. Lets see what happens..!

grsmonkey= I have to check the compression, ordered this combo 5 years ago so I don't remember.
