    Hesitate to post, may not be entirely correct.

    Just some thoughts on this

    I think in some of the cars there is analogue signal coming from the diff, and our clusters are massaging this into a digital version for the DME.

    In many race cars that preserve the factory dme, but delete the cluster to use a sophisticated DA system, this is a problem.

    One example of a solution is KEMPOWER's black boxes....they make different versions for simply getting rid of vmax, or complete deletion of cluster too.

    Maybe not cheap, but illustrative of the idea that you may not get away without paying attention to the raw diff signal and processing it.

    I'm certain that there is a cheaper solution. I'm not an EE, and I've not tried to scope the signals to see the difference.

    It might be possible to put a hall sensor on the diff and generate a signal that works without manipulation. I believe that not all diff sensors are the same either.... There may be better ones for you to use.
