My preference was always to 5 series, my first car was a 528e, and after that I owned an e39 540i/6.
As much as I loved the 540 and its torque, I decided I needed something simpler, cheaper, and likely older. I had my e39 for sale for more than 6 months, when finally everything lined up and I ended up in this:
Now when I was looking at e30s, I was rather apprehensive because my previous experience driving them was a little underwhelming in the power department. Most notably, I drove a stock e2i stroker with regular eta pistons, and it felt about as fast as my 528e.
This car is much different. It was a labor of love by the PO to build a period style stroker, and a few minutes into the test drive I was hooked.
Engine build:

Ported, polished, port (& gasket) matched intake manifold
Big bore throttle body
19lb injectors
Bav Auto Long tube headers (Clearance issues with these are wonderful)
Cat delete midpipe and stock Eberspacher muffer
Miller WAR Stroker Package - Chip, etc, out of box tune
Miller PSIK
13lb flywheel
~ more details
Suspension:
Alpina springs with matched Bilsteins
Eibach adjustable sways

Hartge 16x7.5 Type A - wearing 205/50/r16 hankook v2 concept 2s
Exterior:
iS front spoiler
Ryan G splitter
E30 Mtech 1 rear spoiler
H4 conversion headlamps
Interior:
Black Vinyl Sports
Kenwood with 3 pre-amp outs
8" Luke box with Infinity Reference 860w
Onto more pictures:
Short term plans include:
New Shift lever - current is a weird adjustable short shifter
New Shift knob - very likely a ZHP, fell in love with it in the 540
New Steering wheel - can't decide between Mtech-1 or a Momo Monte Carlo
Get the AC working
Long term:
Have it tuned properly - I would wager it has ~15hp hiding in the tuning right now
New paint job - Car's perfect candidate for it, aged paint, but the body is dry, dry, dry.
Any suggestions for a good path to get it tuned properly? Is Miller the best way to go, or?
