Oh... ok 6k is a LITTLE more reasonable if you are paying someone else to do it....

Honestly tho? engine swap is really a DIY job, if you arent smart enough to pull it off then keep the eta engine. 6k is 2x the value of your car.

But Jordan don't forget that not everyone on here can be as mechanically inclined as others. We have a 72 mustang that we dropped a custom built 351 into, but my dad knows nothing how to do an engine swap. Some people just have to pay professionals rather then doing it themselves.
    exactly

and plus not everyone cares about motor work or going 300 mph, so they first do body work, wheels, ice, interior and then motor. Hey what da you know that sound just like me :D , but by what some of you are saying my car is RICE, since its all show no go

I like your car man, its clean, and the Alpinas look nice with the GTS kit. My only gripe about the GTS kit is how wide they look and don't flow into the quarter panels well. Other than that, it looks a hell of a lot better than diving boards.

      Good luck in the future!

Nice look man, I personally am a fan of the GTS kit, the Alpina wheels set it off nicely. I like the color of the car too. Good luck with your future plans. 8)

          **cough, cough**

The difference is it wasn't our new member's plan to go all show first with his eta, he just bought it that way. You went out of your way to just focus on body kit, wheels, skinny tires, ICE, etc.

I don't feel like getting in it with you, so don't try to start anything. But he doesn't seem to be like you. He just got it because the wheels are worth more than he paid. Hopefully, his ride will not be riced. He posted in auto-x/track, so hopefully he'll put the BMW to good use.

Don't jump to conclusions so fast. Blackcoatknight probably isn't a ricer. But most likely the PO was. GTS on a ETA with ICE and eyebrows? Hmmmm........

          - - - - -

Blackcoatknight, good luck with your plans. FYI, the local place here charges $5k total, even factoring in $70/hour, with everything - conversion parts, engine, driveshaft, diff, tranny......just look around. There is supposedly someone in my area opening a shop just for this conversion, and will charge $3k inclusive of engine..... :D

Shop around for the best deal. If you're not doing the work, it might make the shop happier if they buy the motor, and plus you have the benefit of them being responsible for it working/running properly.

          p.s. Lose the eyebrows.

I do have to say, that cars ass looks hot. Not too crazy about the front or lack of sides though. Who cares if the car is slow? Its not like you rip around on public roads at 155mph anyway unless you are a fucking idiot. I would love to have a fast car, but I don't so I might as well make it look good until I can make it fast.

Yeah, everyone has their preferences. He got the car how it is. He is playing the hand he was delt. I personally have made mine fast and nimble. Now I will go to work on the body and interior. But once again everyone has a personal preference and priority list.

If everyone could do an engine swap, and 100% of the work on their cars themselves, what would mechanics get paid to do?

just because you have a strong motor doesn't mean you go max speed everywhere you go.
My car is fast as all hell, and I don't drive over 75 on the freeway much unless I really feel like it, and in my 325E I ended up driving faster than I do in my M3 as it attracted less attention from cops so I was less concerned about it.

good luck with your car man, you bought someones project, just make sure you FINISH THE JOB RIGHT.

                        peace out. 8)

LOL nice try but the rims are like the whole reason I bought the whole car......car = 500 bux out of local newspaper.........Rims = around around 1000 mounted with brand new tires (under 50 miles on them when I got the car) plus a matching spare and tire so the cars rims are worth more then the car :)

haha I also fell popular this is a long thread !!!! YAY !!!!

And who had that info about the shop that would do the whole m50 conversion including motor if you could pm m some info that would be nice.....

                            Thanks guys

p.s THE EYEBROWS ARE OFF FOR NOW :)

Man, I don't know why Jordan doesn't like this car, it looks better than his!

Jordan, you should post a non photoshopped picture.
