Trump voters were cool with it. And they think it's working out swimmingly.

As we've seen with POTUS, it's less about the "new" idiotic person's aptitude, and more about the message it sends to the establishment. You can dismiss that as a poor view to take, that's your prerogative. I've become pretty pessimistic over-all regarding the functionality of our electoral system anyway. I just want to see the incumbents out so that the ROI on the dollars the companies paid to put them there goes down.

I think most people were at least optimistic that in addition to being a huge "Fuck You" to "the establishment", Trump would bring a new attitude to the Presidency and put us first. Love him or hate him, I think he's done a lot of things that kept his promise(s) to Americans.

This crazy chick, she is literally insane and has no understanding of how even basic economics works, accuses people of catcalling her when they offer to debate her, and looks like a complete fool anytime anyone asks her to defend a position. Trump isn't eloquent, but he knows a thing or two about running businesses and negotiation.

I'm not sure his agenda is to better the lives of the majority of Americans, but I am not passing ultimate judgement until his term is over in 2 (or 6) years. I don't think he's a particularly good businessman, negotiator, or human being either. The last of which is confirmed on an almost daily basis unfortunately. But again, as a POTUS, I'll reserve my judgement until his time on Penn. Ave is over.

As for Cortez... again haven't heard everything she's saying, but have seen some of the memes running around. The cat-calling thing is a ridiculous way to decline a debate obviously. I understand her not wanting to have one as she's already got a ground-swell of support (could lose that easily with a poor debate performance), though it will be interesting to see how many show up in November.

It happens from time to time.

Now please stop selling your over-priced homes and moving here. Californians are buying up all the reasonably priced, decent sized homes in the nice neighborhoods and seriously driving up prices. As someone looking to buy another home in a better school district (oldest kid is getting ready to start school), I'd really appreciate being able to still afford one in a year without having to sell our current home which, we'd hoped, to use as a rental property.

I'm no fan of Trump on many things. It's confusing because he can be such an idiot at times, downright obnoxious and child-like, but as someone in Law Enforcement it's nice to see a President that supports LEO's, first responders, and the military again. On that same breath, I dislike his stance on the NFL/NBA protests etc.

As for his policies, I agree and think you have the right way of looking at things. A President, at best, is often going to have 50% of the country that likes or dislikes every move they make.

I think the second Cortez is asked to have a legitimate debate, or share her experience or qualifications, she's going to lose any sort of realistic supporter she might have had. Right now people like her because she's saying things like EVERYTHING FREE! COLLEGE! HEALTHCARE! NO MORE POVERTY! JOBS FOR EVERYONE! without any understanding of what it would take to suddenly implement this perfect futuristic world in the US.

Still, I'd much rather see the incumbents voted out. Even if I have to deal with a few of the ultra left "progressives" making it in... and a few of the far rights as well. As long as it's someone that was not heavily paid for... I'm calling that a win in terms of fixing the electoral system. I'm very center, but what the electorate thinks anymore has been lost in the quagmire of corporate (and private) campaign spending. The mud has gotten so thick that you can't see through the water anymore.

And that is why Donald Trump was elected.

i wish i had an over-priced home to sell. i was not in a position to buy one when the market shit the bed 10 years ago. i can see where that impacts you, and if the rest of the states could stop migrating *here*, maybe the market pricing and rents wouldn't be causing an exodus. :P

We left the bay area in 1979 in part because California real estate for us was out of reach, and no help coming from parents etc to be able to buy.

Apparently more people feel the same way as CA has more people leaving than arriving

Because Trump 1) had a gigantic following and name brand recognition for decades, 2) had run successful businesses at the highest level, making him extraordinarily wealthy, and 3) appealed to a large portion of average middle class Americans.

This guy is a lawyer that represented a porn star against Trump. He has nearly 0 air time outside CNN from what I've seen. He had no national spotlight until he took on a washed up porn star client. Nobody knows what his political stances are.

Just a guess, but I'd say he's going to fall out faster than that socialist girl.

Ultimately, it's not terribly different. I just think that kind of image would push conservative Dems further to the middle or even over to the right center and lose a significant part of their electorate.

I agree Avanetti is a terrible prospective candidate. I like what he did as a lawyer for Stormy but none of what I saw would I want in the White House.

As for Trump, I think you give him too much credit. He does have huge name brand recognition due to his reality TV stuff. Minor recognition (among normal people) for his real estate dealings/failings/holdings. He is no different to me than Berni Madoff in terms of business. As we discussed... I think he got elected as a "fuck you" to the establishment, and not so much because of his other qualities. He basically says whatever will please whatever audience he happens to have in front of him at the time. I guess businessmen do make good politicians.

All of that said, as a POTUS, like history, I'll wait until his term(s) are over before damning him as a failure.

I agree, I guess I should have said that most people know him either because of his reality show (of which I really didn't know anything about), or the fact that he's incredibly rich which = good businessmen to your average person. A lot of what I heard here was from people that didn't care for him as a person, but believed the country should be run as a business to improve profits, wages, etc etc Then there was the "fuck you" factor which brought in a whole new set of prospective voters.

Now, I dislike Michael Moore down to a molecular level, but I think he nailed it in this little speech:
