New key and lock, can't remove key upon double locking

Restoring an '89 Touring, new key from the dealer, freshly rebuilt lock cylinder with buttery action, but yet still when you try to double lock the car, you can't remove the key from the lock from the 90-degree position. What gives? Anything I can try to get double locking functional? Thanks.

They cut it a little long. Mine is the same way. Pull it a little while locking and it should let you do everything

No luck, but thanks anyway. The car's owner says he doesn't care about double locking, but my own E30 has a similar issue (with an old lock and key) so I was curious.
