fusion, you're arguing from a common sense side of the coin, which is not how herbal and others argue.
there is a reason global warming is called a new religion. its faith based.
“There is nothing government can give you that it hasn’t taken from you in the first place”
    Sir Winston Churchill

Ah yes, common sense...the oh-so-useful path to truth in science. You should contact the folks at the Perimeter Institute, perhaps they haven't thought to consult layman's to try and solve some of the most complex theories every conceived of in physics. But probably better to wait till you've sorted out GW first, wouldn't want to shake every field of science with your ground breaking findings conjured up in your uneducated mind.

Well, they should consult someone, because those Humpty Dumpties seem to be falling off their wall of AGW religion.
Not me, I'm not a scientist and I'm not solving anything. Like probably everyone in this thread, I don't have the resources to go out and study thousand year old squirrel piss myself. But I also don't swear by some blind ecobeliefs that are being ruined by their own creators.

Common sense doesn't solve scientific problems. Common sense has a good bullshit detector that alarms when a bunch of idiots use premature science to hack away at your freedom.

Yes you're damn right your freedom to be a self-centered polluting douche is being stripped away little by little, rightly so. Or do you believe we should have the right to do whatever the fuck we want regardless of it's ecological impacts?

It always makes me smile when some of you guys bring up European socialism or Chinese communism without having lived in either and then you write something as idiotic as you just did. You're free to guess where I'd go with this if you weren't from maple syrup, but the US.

Right, having a decent sense of ecological responsibility is either socialist or communist behaviour.

Do you possess a single unique thought, or do you just preach what you've heard on Fox news?

and this is why i fucking hate hippies

Gives a shit about the world and acknowledges scientific truths, must be a hippie.

Don't worry, I'm sure if all you GW deniers gather together you may have enough real knowledge on the subject to form a half decent post. I'll check in if and when that happens, catch ya later.

The Fox arguement again, good job! I'm in Europe and don't have access to it.

Having a decent sense of ecological responsibility should be common sense, not regulation. You should have your window sealant replaced not because a political party made it legislation, but because you're not an idiot and know you're losing your own money. You should upgrade to solar panels, if you see a benefit and when you're willing to invest in it. Your neighbors should not have to have a higher bill because you were subsidized. Noone should be bullied and sanctioned into making decisions.
That is what the (pre 1990) eastern european socialism was. Let the goverment tell you where to take a shit, what countries to go to on vacation, what food you eat, what you can say.
Of course there were people who thought they were "just stripping away your self-centered freedom to do whatever the fuck you want". Like freedom of speach against the regime, like buying a fucking VHS player, like sitting in a goddamn Chevrolet and doing a burnout, just because you fucking want to.

I can't believe you people are seriously loosing touch with what freedom is. Freedom is not just having a fast food restaurant on every corner.
I guess it's because I'm "outside looking in" that I have the different angle of looking at this.

And yet, even though you are in the Czech Republic, you feel like you are in touch enough with American politics to constantly judge the on-goings.

Who is stopping anyone's free speech, and how the hell would you hear about it over there?

Well, there is one poster who does climate research for a living, yet the "truthers" don't seem to respect that and only want to believe the research that backs their opinion.

As usual, you take a phrase out of context and twist it to your liking.
Re-read what I wrote and you may understand that the freedom of speech was in regards to pre 1990 socialism.

But I like how your first sentance suggests I should not be judging on-goings, then go on to ask who's stopping free speech ;)

Oh hey, did you crawl out of a hole? There's this new thing called the interwebz and as a US citizen I can, and feel necessary, to follow US affairs. And I have a thing called a satellite with international channels. Just not Fox.

Plus AGW isn't 'American Global Warming' and the EU seems to really masturbate about the idea, though most of the diarrhea comes from the US, so I see nothing wrong with stating my opinion even if I was a Swede.

Sorry, you also said "I can't believe you people are seriously loosing touch with what freedom is."

Free speech doesn't mean people can't think what you say is moronic. Although Jack Welch seems to be a little cloudy on that too.

So you believe that you are completely informed about US politics and developments reading your choice of the internets? And yet get mad about people making statements about Europe - in which they can research and find information about using this same internet device?

Most of the denier mental diarrhea DOES come from the US. It impacts the ability of US companies to remain competitive in markets that value sustainable and ecological products, although some just make eco-friendly part of the strategy even if some anti-science people here poo-poo it.

To rephrase that: Some of you are lacking the ability to see when an ideology is infringing your freedom (your rights) with policies/taxes/etc you're told are good for you or the enviroment. Not only that, you attack and label those who are nudging you, saying "hey, something's not right here".
This is not just some little local law somewhere, this is a worldwide phenomenon ("1st world" anyway) and is enabling leftist politicians to build part of their platform on uncertain information.
You don't seem to understand how highly dangerous it is to say that "they're doing it for a better future" and how this is the exact way socialists and communists came to power in the past and were able to keep people thinking it's ok.

Now, you're going to say I'm a littering, plastic burning, co2 producing pig. No.
Just like we don't need a regulation to not take a stale shit in the middle of a mall or office, we don't need the government to regulate how a home is insulated (example). The role of government should be to instruct, show benefits, and optionally provide incentives. Thus individuals should be informed enough to make the better decisions.

How does one, like you, with zero scientific background feel enabled to say that the people who study this for their careers are wrong?

So are you saying people aren't going to pollute without regulation? HAHAHHAHA.

And plenty of people take shits in the rivers where people wash clothes or bathe in India. And it's killing people.

Government incentives did a wonderful job at cutting back on acid rain.

But you know, that would have totally have happened if the government told plants to stop making so much acid rain.

You seem to be hating on incentives but then are an option. Just not when you don't believe in the end goal?
