Thanks for all the feedback. We ended up getting a 2017 Escape. We got a good deal since we know the sales manager. I never thought I would buy new but for what our needs are it checked all boxes even though a little over budget.
Really like the escape even though it's just the 1.5 engine, it drives so much better than the jeep compass we recently test drove.
