Anyone here own a 2004-2007 bmw Dakar?

I am looking into grabbing a new bike, and am looking into a bmw Dakar. The 04-07 with the single Rotex engine.

Does anyone have any ownership experience they can share.....or other options similar in design? Ie; adventure touring

I don't own a Dakar but am looking to buy a new mid-size ADV bike as well. Don't worry, on the other side of the continent lol.

I'm looking at Dakars and the F700GS. other options would be KLR650/DR650/XR650/F800GS/Vstrom/TriumphTiger800.

The Dakars are probably half the cost new as the F700, however the F700 has a lot more power and is a better street bike/commuter.

I'm actually flying up to Alaska this weekend to rent a Sertao which is the newer version of the Dakar and tour for a few days, so depending on how I like it will decide which bike I get..

I own a '12 Sertao. Coming up on 12k miles in about a week or so.

Awesome bike! Never had any problems. My experience and from what I've read, Dakar and Sertao are mostly the same bike. Sertao might have more power slightly.

The Rotax motors are known to be very good.

What's a good price for an 04 Dakar with only 12,000 Klms on it? Comes with panniers, bark busters, tank bag, and a new set of metzlers for it?

I am possibly looking at one of these Sunday. I have read a few reviews that say it was noticeably buzzer than the previous generation f650 singles.
What say you?

Also, I am looking at a regular 2012 f650gs single also.

Is it worth the premium to grab a sertao over a standard f650gs of the same year?
