    M40 Starting issue

    Hey guys.
I have run into a problem that I really need to solve.
So, the problem I am having is, when I turn the key over, I can hear the starter motor cranking, usually the first start turns over and immediately dies, then I have to try start it again, usually taking a few cranks then finally catches, idles lumpy and around 2000 rpm then settles down.
    Things I have done,
    - Full service new air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs. etc
    - Installed a check valve.
To add, I was driving on a straight road, in 4th gear, revs were at 2000 rpm to 1000, instantly throwing the car and then bounced back up, then I came to an intersection, shifted into 3rd, then down to 2nd and the car stalled. This has happened once before, but instead of the car stalling, the dash lights came on (handbrake, brake lights, etc) as if it had stalled, then all of a sudden sprang back into life completely throwing the car.
Really hoping to get on top of this issue, any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers.

Sounds like a vacuum leak somewhere, but you'd notice such a large leak with a cursory inspection.
