    Strut Threads Question

So I’m trying to install new bilsteins but my strut threads are half rusted away. Is it still safe to install as is?

I’m torn, because the shock isn’t really going anywhere, but could this be a safety concern?

You can see on one side half the threads are gone. The other side is still there.

From how I remember the bilstein gland nut, it isn't much longer than that.
Maybe I'd run it while looking for a replacement, but I would start looking for another.

Not recommended, like you say, the strut can't go anywhere.

But if that housing thread disintegrates (and it looks almost there) then the strut will ride up and down inside the housing - this will destroy that shiny Billy collar and also damage the strut casing.
