    Updated: 1987 325I Convertible for PARTS $400

I have owned this car for 4 years and have put a lot of work into it. Almost all of the suspension is new and the Engine top end is new as well. The members on here hopefully appreciate the work done.

A year ago she was in a minor 5 mph fender bender that dented the right front fender. Insurance decided they didn't want to fix it so they wrote her off. The damage can be seen in the photos, very minor. She has some scratched and dings, but she is 30 years old. Overall decent condition. The dash is in great shape, which is hard to find on these. Seats have been redone in a 2-tone by the previous owner. I am purchasing a new vehicle and just don't need it.

    What I've done:
Rebuilt head with new valves, seals, rockers, etc. Head done by Tachyon.
    New Polyurethane subframe bushings
    New trailing arm bushings
New M3 offset Control Arm bushings
    New control arms
    New tie rods
New sway bar bushings and end links
    New motor and tranny mounts
    New water pump
    New alternator
    Timing belt replaced 10k ago
    Fuel injectors cleaned an rebuilt
New cap, rotor, and spark plug wires
All windows work, AC serviced by Carroll Autowerks and is ice cold.

    The bad
    Oil pump not working
    Center support bearing needs replacing
Cruise Control cable broke (module still works, just needs cable)
No title - being sold as a parts car

I'm just looking to get it gone. $400 She runs and drives fine. However with oil pump not working, she can't go far until that is fixed.

help me understand the oil pump issue?

assuming low oil pressure but how did you diagnose this as the problem? are the bearings bad?

To be fair, without opening up, I can't be 100% positive. This is just my deductive reasoning.

The oil light comes on once she starts to warm up, and I get smoke from inside my valve cover. She fires up fine from cold and runs fine. After the temp gauge starts moving, then the oil pressure light slowly starts to turn on. I've pulled the plugs, I get no oil blow by. After letting it run, then pulling off the valve cover, my head looks pretty dry.

My theory is the oil pump failed so its not sending oil up top.

well, if it wasn't red, i would probably fly out there to have a look at it.

sounds like you might have a bad set of bearings. have you taken off the valve cover to see how slugged up it is inside? iirc, the oil light comes on at >5psi.

Valve cover has been off, nothing looks odd or out of place
