Have put 2000 miles on my 87 convertible and the SI lights up at start but nothing after that, no green lights yet and after this many miles I feel that the SI lights should be slowly walking across the stage! ideas?

The SI lights should go one when you turn the key to position 2. It'll go off after you start the car. The number of light bars tell you the time you have left until the next service interval.
