    Continental water pump/alternator belt problems

Recently I had my 2.7i completed and drove 150 miles before notice the water pump belt is making noise. I checked the tension was loose so I tighten with good tension but was at my last tooth on the bracket. I took it to a track day and on my last lap of the session, the belt completely jumped off the pulley. Luckily it didn't chew it up and I put it back in and limped home.

I thought Continental was BMW oem supplier. It shouldn't stretch that much that would jumped off the pulley. Anyone else have this issue?

Does it say 10 X 965 on it?

Yes it is 10x965. I am thinking about getting a 10x950 to see if it helps.

Initial installation still have a little more than a tooth left on the bracket. After the 150 miles, its tension got loosen.

I've seen 2 of these recently, but they had different supplier on the cars. I put the Conti on and all seemed ok for few months now.

        ETK pulls up
        11 51 1 711 091 - 9,5X965

I know most of them are 3/4 down the adjuster.

The e and I wp pulleys are different so depending on what combo you have you may not have the correct belt

I am aware of the difference with the pulleys. Both combo has the 965mm belt. bigger fan pulley with smaller crank pulley and vise versa. Got new Gate belts with 100 miles now looking good.
